LEDYARD, CT (WFSB) -

A 32-year-old man was arrested after police said he barricaded himself in Ledyard home on Saturday night and threatened to hurt himself.

Police received a 911 call from the ex-girlfriend of Ledyard resident Christopher Mims just before 3 p.m.

The caller told police that following a “domestic incident,” she was able to leave their home on Stonybrook Road. However, she said that Mims, who was still inside the home, was “unstable and possibly suicidal.”

Upon arrival, Ledyard police officers surrounded the home. They were assisted by state police, Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit, the Montville Police Department and the Norwich Police Department.

After a six-hour standoff with police, investigators, who were in on-and-off again communication with Mims, got him to surrender to police around 9:30 p.m.

Mims came out of the home and was arrested by officers. He was rushed to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital “for treatment of minor injuries.”

Mims was charged with first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree threatening.

Mims is being held on $750,000 bond. He is expected to be arraigned at New London Superior Court on Monday.
