Surveillance photos released in Jewett City armed robbery

JEWETT CITY, CT (WFSB) -

The Connecticut State Police is asking for help tracking down the man who tried to rob a gas station in Jewett City at gunpoint overnight.

In pictures released on Tuesday, an unidentified man can be seen entering the Chucky's Mobil, located at 7 Main St., around 3 a.m.

While inside, police said the man showed a black semi-automatic handgun and knife to the clerk before demanding money.

When police arrived, the man, who was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt under a brown hooded sweatshirt had already ran from the scene. The man was seen running towards the nearby Rite Aid parking lot.

Police said the suspect was also wearing a “maroon colored face mask with holes in it.”   

The armed robbery is under investigation by Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit. Anyone with any information is asked to call 860-848-6566 or text TIP711 with the information to 236748. All calls will be kept confidential.
