A 14-year-old girl from Bloomfield that had been missing for a week was found safe in New York early Thursday morning.
Dian Moses said her daughter, Dia Denny, had not been seen for over one week. She was reported missing to the Bloomfield Police Department on April 4.
“I called the phone, it keeps going to voicemail and then the last the time goes by I realized I never hear from her again,” Moses said.
She said the last time she heard from her was last week when she told her daughter she couldn’t go to a party in Manchester.
“The next thing I know she left. Said she was going to the party and that’s the last time I saw her,” Moses said.
Around 1 a.m., Denny was located in at a shelter in Queens, NY. She was taken to a New York Police Department where Denny was reunited with family members who traveled to New York from Bloomfield.
Moses said she was worried about her daughter’s safety and health, especially because she has asthma and left her medication in her room.
Police said video released on Wednesday showed Denny’s last whereabouts. She was last seen trying to get a ride from Union Station in Hartford. The video also shows her with a man, who police are working to identify.
The Bloomfield Police Department Detective Unit continues the investigation. Anyone with information should contact Bloomfield police at 860-242-5501.
