HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Hartford police released information on Thursday reminding drivers to expect a traffic impact in the city on Friday afternoon ahead of Donald Trump’s arrival.

Delays are to be expected in the area of State Street, American Row, Columbus Boulevard and access to the Founders Bridge.

Police officers will be in the area to help with traffic flow.

Trump will be holding a campaign event at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Commuters who will be leaving the city via the Columbus Boulevard and Founders Bridge area should consider leaving earlier or choosing a different route.

Those who are planning to attend the event are being asked to arrive early. There will be extensive security measures in place.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley said there will be about 80 Hartford officers helping with the event, at a cost of $40,000 to $45,000 more than what the Trump campaign is paying for. However, that figure could change.

"We expect the Convention Center to fill right up to capacity. We know there's going to be some spill over. We know there’s more than likely going to be some protesters," Foley said.

Connecticut State Police will also be assisting.

Police wouldn't comment on any tactics they plan to take in order to keep the crowds calm.

On Thursday, Nixs Hartford restaurant was buzzing, but on Friday, thousands more are expected to be in the area, and Nixs will have a front row seat.

"We’re looking forward to it. We’re hoping with the extra crowd at the Convention Center to see Mr. Trump, that’s going to allow us to get some more traffic into our restaurant," said Jason Cebe-Habersky, of Nixs Hartford.

In anticipation of the event, the restaurant is adding staff.

"We’re looking to do a special drink for the event, something that we can incorporate red white and blue to embrace our national flag colors," Cebe-Habersky said.
