Fire investigators in Ledyard are trying to determine what caused a fire in a vacant house on Friday afternoon that destroyed the house, a detached garage and a barn.
Avery Hill Road was closed, so firefighters from several towns could help battle the fire at 46 Avery Hill Rd.

First responders had to run hose a half mile to the scene. Tankers were brought in to help with fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Authorities said there was no power to the home.
There were no injuries to firefighters.
