HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Officials at the University of Hartford sent out alerts to students early Saturday morning following an altercation on campus in which a student was assaulted and held at gunpoint.

According to the alert, the incident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. near the B-complex.

Hartford police said the victim was in a dorm room on the campus with his girlfriend when two unknown males knocked on the door.  When the victim opened the door the suspects pushed their way in.

The suspects demanded to know where the "weed" was as they rummaged through the room, despite the victims claims he had no marijuana.

At least one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim, according to police.  In addition, the victim was punched several times in the face.

The suspects are believed to have fled the campus on foot in an unknown direction.  The victim declined medical attention when emergency personnel arrived.

School officials said they do not believe any students are in danger and the incident appears to be isolated.

Anyone with information should contact the Hartford Police Department or the University of Hartford Public Safety at 860-768-7985.
