HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is coming to Connecticut this week ahead of the state’s primary.

Clinton will campaign in the state on Thursday ahead of the April 26 primary. It will be her first visit to the state prior to the primary.

It is unclear where in Connecticut Clinton will visit, but, during her visit, her campaign office said the former secretary of state will “discuss her plans to tackle gun violence in communities across America and to break down the barriers that hold too many families back.”

"Job creation and making sure those of us in urban areas and in rural areas, are supported and given a second chance with respect to employment," State Rep. Brandon McGee said.

Clinton's visit comes after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a rally at the Convention Center in Hartford on Friday. Thousands of people showed up at the event.

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich will also be making a stop in Connecticut this week. The Ohio governor is scheduled to hold a town hall meeting at Glastonbury High School on Friday night.

Friday's visit isn't Kasich's first time in Connecticut. He appeared at an event at Sacred Heart University earlier this month.

Clinton was also getting support from a group of mothers, who have lost their children to gun violence.

"Mothers of the Movement" as they are called say they stand behind Clinton and her stance on gun control.

They're calling for comprehensive background checks, holding irresponsible dealers accountable and police reform.

Lucia McBath, who lost her son in 2012 after he was shot to death, said she is committed to tackling gun violence.

"As a mother who lost her child, I was going to standup and challenge the system and continue to tell my story,” McBath said.

The group is holding several events today in Hartford and New Haven in support of Clinton.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has already endorse Clinton and even campaigned for her in New Hampshire earlier this year. Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin announced on Friday that he was endorsing Clinton.

Former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter paid a visit to Connecticut on Friday to garner support for Clinton and her daughter Chelsea Clinton is scheduled to appear in Hartford on Wednesday.

There is no word if Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders or Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz will visit the state before the primaries.
