MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A boater, who was duck hunting in the Long Island Sound, was rescued on Tuesday morning after his boat was unable to return to the shores of Milford.

The distress call was received by the Milford Fire Department dispatch about 10 a.m. The duck hunter said the “motor was unable to overcome a strong tide,” which was causing his boat to “drift out into Long Island Sound,” according to Milford Fire Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi.

The Milford Fire Department Marine 2 unit was able to reach the boat, which was about three miles from shore.

Fabrizi said the unidentified boater was not injured.

Fire crews were able to tow the boat, which suffered no damage, back to shore.
