A Connecticut State Police K9 named Porter was injured on Monday evening while searching for a missing woman at Rocky Neck State Park.

Police said Porter was helping troopers and the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection in the search.

At about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, during the search, Porter’s handler reported to dispatchers that the dog had fallen about 20 feet off a rock wall.

Porter was rescued and taken to an emergency veterinarian’s office for evaluation of an injury to his right front leg.

The K9 was treated and released and will be out of work while he recovers.

The missing woman was found safe.
