HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Former President Bill Clinton returned to Connecticut on Monday to campaign for his wife Hillary Clinton in Hartford and New Haven.

However, Bill Clinton is not alone and will be campaign for Hillary with former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly. Giffords and Kelly were at the rally in Hartford and New Haven and discussed Clinton's "commitment to tackling gun violence as president.”

Before his first visit, Clinton visited Augie & Ray's Drive-in in East Hartford. He chatted with voters.

The first event was held at 4 p.m. at Samuel V. Arroyo Center at Pope Park, located at 30 Pope Park Dr. in Hartford.

The second event was held at Wilbur Cross High School, which is located at 181 Mitchell Dr., New Haven, at 6:30 p.m.

He said his wife is the one candidate who is not afraid to stand up to the gun manufacturers.

"The organized groups on the other side recognize that representing the manufacturers try to terrify every legal gun owner to think they're coming to get your guns, which of course constitutionally you can't do," Clinton said.

He closed by simply and directly asking his former neighbors to vote for his wife.

"If you want to get something done, you better make Hillary the next president," Clinton said.

He said he loves New Haven because he met his wife as a law student at Yale University.

Bill's visit comes after Hillary Clinton was in New Haven and Bridgeport this weekend. Clinton talked with working families Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro at Orangeside on Temple on Saturday afternoon. They discussed raising the minimum wage and the equal pay for women.

Hillary Clinton held a rally at the University of Bridgeport's Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Hundreds showed up at the rally, including both U.S. senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy.

Monday's visit is not the first by Clinton's family as her daughter Chelsea Clinton came to campaign for her mother

Bernie Sanders held a rally in New Haven on Sunday evening. He also campaigned in Hartford on Monday morning.

A total of five states will hold primary elections on Tuesday. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. To learn more about your polling place, click here.
