ROCKVILLE, CT (WFSB) -

A woman accused of causing a standoff with police in Coventry is scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday.

Debra Bernier, 57, faces assault on an officer, reckless endangerment, threatening and interfering with police charges for the incident on Tuesday night.

Police said they were called to Lake Street around 3 p.m. after they heard reports of a woman who pointed a rifle at a man.

They identified Bernier as the woman. They said she barricaded herself inside a camper on a property.

As a result the nearby G. H. Robertson School on Cross Street was temporarily locked down while officers set up a perimeter. Traffic to the area was also blocked.

Officials were able to call Bernier and convince her to come out of the camper. She was taken into custody.

Police said the weapon was recovered and secured.

Bernier was held on a $10,000 bond and given a court date of Wednesday at Rockville Superior Court.
