Police are investigating a crash in Waterbury on Wednesday morning that killed two people.
The crash was reported on Thomaston Avenue, also known as Route 262, around noon.
Thomaston Avenue is closed to traffic, and is expected to be closed until about 4 or 5 p.m. The road connects Waterbury to Plymouth.
Crews said the drivers of two cars were killed in the crash. The cars were traveling in opposite directions when they collided.
"There have been a fare amount of accidents on this road in the past. This is a tragic situation. We don't really respond to many accidents on this part of the roadway," said Waterbury Deputy Police Chief Fred Spagnolo.
It is unclear how the crash happened, but officials are continuing to investigate.
The identities of the two people who died have not yet been released.
