Eyewitness News kicked off 20 Towns in Twenty Days on Thursday, with the first stop in Southington.
Mark Zinni and Mark Dixon traveled all over town, and thank everyone who they saw for being so welcoming.
Zinni stopped in at CC Carvers on North Main Street, and then took the Early Warning Weather Tracker across town, hanging out t-shirts and taking some photos with people he met.
CC Carvers is about to turn 4 years old and the owner said Southington is the perfect place to have a business.
"Everyone that comes in here, we become friends. The people are just wonderful in Southington,” said Catherina Carlette, of CC Carvers.
As part of the 20 Towns in Twenty Days, Eyewitness News is showcasing organizations that are receiving $1,000, and some others that are just doing amazing work in each community.
On Thursday, Channel 3 toured the old Gura Building on Main Street.
It sat empty for years but after a lot of fundraising and planning, it's finally being renovated by the Southington Community Cultural Arts.
The non-profit helps people of all ages and abilities by using art to improve lives.
Once complete in a few months, the public space will be an arts center where all kinds of artists can do their work, plus a pottery studio, live music and so much more.
"It's such a giving community. You know, we have 43,000 people but the feeling of the town is small town feeling, people are out there to help each other," said Mary Decroce, of Southington Community Cultural Arts.
"The spirit or giving and community that is inherent within Southington is unbelievable," said Dawn Miceli, of the Southington Town Council.
They have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the project, and local businesses and contractors are donating time and resources to get it done.
Eyewitness News also donated $1,000 to Southington Community Services on Thursday.
On Friday, the team travels to Vernon.
