Nearly 30 homes were without water following a water main break in Hartford Friday morning.
According to the Metropolitan District Commission, the 8 inch main on Victoria Road broke and was shutdown around 2:30 a.m. Twenty-nine homes were affected.
However, service was restored around 6:35 a.m.
Crews were repairing the break between George Street and Campfield Avenue.
That area was expected to reopen to traffic around 9 a.m.
MDC officials said during springtime, large fluctuations in temperature, like very cold nights and warm days, can create subsurface conditions that could contribute to a water main break. However, they also said breaks tend to be less frequent in the milder months.
They said the main was first installed in 1927.
