NORWICH, Conn. (WFSB) -

A man was arrested Friday afternoon after he tried to interfere with a Life Star helicopter's takeoff.

Jonathon Brand, 37, of Norwich was arrested for interfering with a heliport-landing field.

Around 3:30 pm, police responded to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

Norwich police said Brand had been warned numerous times to stay away from the cordoned-off area of the heliport.

Police believe Brand was trying to stop a patient in the helicopter from being transported to another hospital.

Once Brand removed himself from the heliport area, police said he stood in the middle of the hospital parking lot in an attempt to block cars from leaving the lot.

Brand was also charged with reckless endangerment, 1st degree trespass and breach of peace.

He is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
