HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Hartford said they're investigating a report of a robbery and abduction.

They said they were called to Ledyard Street around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday for reports of a disturbance at the M&J Auto mechanic's shop.

Victims reported to police that they were working in the shop late when masked suspects entered carrying guns and speaking with a Dominican dialect. The suspects demanded money.

One of the victims reported that his father, who had been in the shop, was abducted by the suspects and left with them in a small black Cadillac SUV.

Police said their major crimes department conducted interviews.

About an hour later, officers said they learned that the victim's father was left on Interstate 91 south near exit 8. He was not hurt.

Hartford officers brought the man back to the police department where he also was interviewed.

Police said they're looking to why M&J Auto, a shop that's small and usually operates during normal business hours, was the target of a late night armed robbery and abduction by multiple suspects.

About $200 was stolen from the business. No cars, tools or electronics were taken.

No arrests were made as of Wednesday morning.

The suspects were described as wearing black clothing and wearing ski masks.

Police called the investigation ongoing.
