A judge has ruled to deny a gun company’s attempt to delay the discovery process in the Sandy Hook ligation.
On Thursday afternoon, Judge Barbara Bellis denied a motion to stay by Bushmaster Firearms International against the estate of Victoria Soto.
The ruling means Bushmaster has to hand over their internal documents and communications, according to BerlinRosen Public Affairs, which is representing the Sandy Hook families.
The lawyers for the families said the “ruling marks another in a line of recent victories for the families of nine victims and one survivor of the Sandy Hook shooting as the gun companies will need to make their executives available for depositions and share internal documents about the marketing of their products, internal communications, and any other information concerning the subject of the complaint.”
Josh Koskoff from Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder said the families “have waited patiently” for about a year and a half.
“They have waited and watched as the defendants tried every tactic to avoid having to disclose a single document or answer a single question under oath. Now that wait is officially over,” Koskoff said in a statement on Thursday.
