WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A man is accused of robbing a storage business in West Haven Thursday afternoon.

Police said Dennis Hazard, 24, of New Haven, showed a handgun to a clerk at Public Storage on Bull Hill Lane.

The incident happened shortly after 12 p.m.

Police said the clerk gave Hazard money. The suspect then fled on foot.

Shortly after they arrived on the scene, officers said they noticed Hazard leaving the area in a tan car.

They attempted to stop the driver as he fled onto Valley Brook Road. The driver, however, lost control of the vehicle and was forced to stop it.

The driver then ran off on foot.

Police said they found money and a handgun in the car.

With the help of Orange police, a K9 unit and citizen tips, Hazard was found at the Dollar Store on Bill Hill Lane in Orange.

Hazard was charged with robbery, larceny, evading responsibility and disobeying an officer's signal.
