Police warn drivers to avoid Berlin Turnpike

BERLIN, CT (WFSB) -

Police are warning drivers to avoid the Berlin Turnpike on Friday afternoon.

Crews are working to reopen the Berlin Turnpike after a tractor trailer tore down wires near Route 9 interchange around noon.

Traffic lights are also out in the area, so drivers should find alternative routes.

Police said the wires were hanging too low for vehicles to pass safely. 

It is unclear how long it will take to reopen the Berlin Turnpike.

There were no reported injuries.

There were no reported outages in Berlin.
