Channel 3 took a trip to New Britain on Monday, which is also known as the “Hardware City.”
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
On Monday’s segment of 20 Towns in Twenty Days, Channel 3 went to the Vine Street office of the foundation.
Since 1941 they have been investing in filtering charitable funds to organizations in Berlin, Plainville, Southington and New Britain.
Channel 3 donated $1,000 to help them fulfill their mission, plus $500 from PC Richard and Son.
"We are always amazed at the difference that amount of money can make, and especially in this climate -- and yes, it absolutely makes a huge, huge difference,” said Joeline Wruck, of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.
“One of the big areas that we concentrate on is education and we believe in working with the local school boards and boards of education to fund those needs in education,” said Bob Trojanowski, of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.
They foundation awarded more than $1.5 million in 2015, which is the most ever.
