FAIRFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Fairfield police say a commercial truck and trailer crashed into a building on Pequot Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Police said the building is a mixed occupancy of office, gallery and apartments, and was occupied at the time of the crash.

The person inside the building said she had heard a loud crash and felt the building shake.

The driver of the truck was able to get out and remained at the scene.

The building was inspected and two heavy wreckers were called to the scene to remove the trailer and truck from the building.

The structure was deemed safe by officials.

The crash remains under investigation.
