NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Video surveillance was released by New Haven police after a man was arrested for reportedly causing a disturbance inside a liquor store last month.

On April 30, police responded to Beverage Boss liquor store on Whalley Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. after a report of someone threatening people inside the store.

The store clerk said a woman tried purchasing alcohol but couldn’t provide proof of age.

A man she was with, identified as 28-year-old Jeffrey Thomas Agnew Jr., gave his identification instead but the clerk refused to sell the alcohol to them.

Police said Agnew Jr. began screaming inside the store and threatening others, creating a disturbance.

When police arrived, officers told Agnew Jr. he was under arrest and asked him to place his hands behind his back.

Police said Agnew Jr. refused and lunged at an officer and continued to resist arrest by placing his hands under his stomach on the ground to prevent being handcuffed.

An officer used pepper spray in the incident, however it was not effective. An officer hit Agnew Jr. on his bicep with a baton.

Agnew Jr. complied with officers, after the mention of a stun gun, however a stun gun was not used during the incident.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with police.
