Channel 3 checks out the views in Meriden

Posted: Updated:

On Wednesday, Channel 3 took a trip to a city that offers some of the best views in Connecticut.

20 Towns in Twenty Days put Meriden in the spotlight, and Channel 3’s Mark Zinni took a tour up to Castle Craig, which is 1,002 feet above sea level, offering a 360-degree view of Meriden.

Anyone can hike, or drive to the top, from May 1 through Oct. 31. At the top, you can easily spot New Haven, Long Island Sound, The Berkshires, and so much more.

Meriden is also home to the famous Ted's World Famous steamed cheeseburgers and K. LaMay's steamed cheeseburgers, and the popular Les' Dairy Bar.

Channel 3 made a $1,000 donation on Wednesday to the Meriden Humane Society, where they help hundreds of cats and dogs each year.

They society also received a $500 gift card from PC Richard and Son.

The volunteers at the no-kill shelter work hard all of the time to help as many animals as they can.

"We adopt over 1,000 cats a year and on average, over 300 dogs a year, so that's a lot. We're into it and we do it. It's 24/7,” said Marlena DiBianco, of the Meriden Humane Society.

The organization does not get any money from the city or state. To help make a donation, click here.
