Police in Shelton identified a woman who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run earlier this week.
They said 54-year-old Teresa Glossy was struck on Howe Avenue at Hill Street on Wednesday just after 8:30 p.m.
Emergency crews said they received a number of 911 calls about the incident.
The found her unconscious in the road. The driver had fled the scene.
"I can't believe that somebody would just hit somebody and take off, what's this world coming to," said James Kelly of Shelton.
Glossy was transported to St. Vincent Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
"We had a witness come forward and tell us a dark sedan was traveling south on Howe Ave, struck Glossy, threw her into the air and fled south on Howe Ave, so anyone with information, you see a car with heavy front end damage, dark sedan, please call the Shelton Police Department," said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.
