For the Renzulli Gifted and Talented Academy in Hartford, outdoor activities simply weren't possible.
The school moved into a new building last year and didn't have any outdoor space.
But the school's urban location won't stop them from creating the space they want.
They decided to build up rather than outwards.
They started a campaign to create a space on the building's roof that students can use to do activities like painting and yoga.
Freddie Dejesus said the school wants the space to be a please where students can utilize their creativity.
"Up here, I'm envisioning an art space where kids can maybe paint the Hartford skyline, we have a collaboration with Lululemon yoga and they can come in and do yoga out here, movies under the stars, a reading area for students - not so much a playground area - just an outdoor space for them to use so they're not always inside," said Dejesus.
Although the school has to raise $800,000, they are confident enough will be raised through business partners and community support.
They've also received help from Channel 3 as part of our 20 towns 20 days series.
We're happy to have given them $1000 dollars and $500 from PC Richard and Son to help them reach their goal.
The school is also hoping to give back by growing fruits and vegetables on the roof, which they will give to the community.
