The Woodstock Academy announced that it will no longer continue the tradition of naming a prom king and queen.
School officials said two months ago students worked with the administration to make the changes.
Instead, the school will elect a “prom court,” honoring 10 students.
The changes are a result of the students’ awareness of LBGTQ students within their school community.
“The Woodstock Academy strives to create an all-inclusive environment where students feel comfortable and welcomed. Our new Prom Court and gender neutral nomination procedures ensures that all students are included in the process,” officials said in a press release.
