Middletown Police Department is looking for a missing teenager with a history of mental illness that could be in danger.
Police said 19-year-old Justina Alicea was last seen at the Sunoco station on Washington Avenue on Thursday morning. Her family said Alicea has a history of mental illness including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Police released a Silver Alert for Alicea because they are considering her an "endangered runaway."
Christina Coombs, who is Alicea's mom, said her daughter was also upset about something shortly before her disappearance.
“Something's bothering her,” Coombs said. “She seemed afraid.”
Alicea slipped out of the home she lives in with her mom early Thursday morning. A driver picked her up in the West Lake Area of Middletown and dropped her off at the Sunoco.
“The person that dropped her off at Sunoco said she looked a little distraught, but that she was OK,” Coombs said.
Coombs said a surveillance photo inside the gas station showed her daughter was OK. Later video from outside the station shows her walking away from a driver as that person heads in the opposite direction.
“I love her and I want to come home,” Coombs said.
The video was the last confirmed report of anyone seeing Alicea although others reported spotting her in other Middletown locations. Coombs said she just hopes no matter where her daughter is she knows that she loves her.
“I'm here and no matter what it is that's bothering you, you know we'll work through it together,” Coombs said.
Alicea was last seen wearing are light blue jeans, a pink hooded sweatshirt and a green T-shirt. She is described as 5’4” and weighs about 140 pounds.
Police urged residents to call the Middletown Police Department with any information at 860-638-4000.
