A man wanted in connection with a Willimantic home invasion 19 years ago is in the custody of local police.

Willimantic officers said Jose Blanco-Dominquez, 57, of Massachusetts, was arrested on May 14 in Boxborough, MA.

Police in Boxborough said they nabbed him during a traffic stop. They said a check of his registration plate alerted them to a potential warrant for his arrest.

Willimantic police said Blanco-Dominquez invaded a home on June 25, 1997 on Chapman Street in Willimantic.

They said he and three other men broke into a home and held four adults and two children at knife point. After a 30 minute standoff, police said they captured three of the four captors.

Blanco-Dominquez, however, escaped by jumping out of a window and running into some nearby woods.

Now in the custody of Willimantic police, he's been charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and conspiracy.

“The Willimantic Police Department is pleased to have Mr. Dominquez in custody," said Cpl. Stanley Parizo Jr., Willimantic police. "The cooperation we received from our partners in the Commonwealth [of Massachusetts] was phenomenal, and we thank them.”

His bond was set at $500,000 and is expected to face a judge on Monday in Danielson.
