NORTH STONINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Environmental officials identified the man killed in a weekend boating accident.

They said 50-year-old Peter R. Fajayan of New London died at Lake Of Isles in North Stonington Sunday.

Officials with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said he had been on a canoe fishing trip with his son.

His adult son, Peter R. Fajayan Jr. of Uncasville, was not hurt.

DEEP said their 14-foot canoe capsized around 7:30 a.m., sending them into the water.

It said the son tried to help his father, but couldn't.

The son was able to make it to shore.

Peter R. Fajayan's body was pulled from the water about an hour later.

Foul play is not suspected, but police said they're looking into whether or not alcohol was involved.
