MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A hazmat unit responded to a Department of Children and Families office in Milford on Tuesday afternoon for the report of a suspicious package.

The package was located at 33 Wellington Rd. around 2:30 p.m. and contained a white powder. The package was delivered to the office earlier on Tuesday by the U.S. Postal Service.

Connecticut State Police said the white powder was found inside two small containers, and one container was broken and the powder was exposed.

The building was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The unknown white powder was tested and deemed to be not hazardous.

The Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit (ESU), the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the US Postal Inspector, the FBI and the Milford Fire and Police Departments also responded to the scene.
