A Connecticut man who spent 48 years on the run after escaping from prison has been hospitalized.
An attorney for 71-year-old Robert Stackowitz said on Tuesday that he is in the hospital for kidney failure.
Stackowitz was arrested at his home in Sherman earlier this month after his social security application turned up a fugitive warrant.
Stackowitz is also battling bladder cancer, heart disease and diabetes and is asking Georgia officials to commute the remainder of his sentence because of his health.
