Coventry crash victim identified as 29-year-old man

COVENTRY, CT (WFSB) -

Police have identified the victim of a deadly crash in Coventry that happened on Tuesday night.

They said 29-year-old Michael Miller of Coventry died in a two-vehicle crash on Route 44.

The collision took place around 11:15 p.m.

A Chevy S-10 pickup truck and a fuel delivery tanker truck owned by Ginnetti Petroleum Transporters of East Haven were involved, according to police.

Investigators said the tanker stopped on the eastbound side of the road to prepare to enter a private parking lot. It was struck from behind by Miller's pickup.

Miller was the lone occupant of the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tanker driver was not hurt and his fuel was not affected.

The crash shut down a portion of Route 44 into Wednesday morning.

Police said they are continuing to investigate exactly what happened.
