Towns around Connecticut have big plans for the Memorial Day Holiday. We compiled a list for you of Memorial Day Parade and event information for several CT towns:
West Hartford — The West Hartford Memorial Day Parade will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30. The parade will begin marching on Farmington Avenue at the intersection of Woodrow Street. Immediately after the parade, everyone is welcome to attend a memorial service held at the West Hartford Veterans Memorial, located at the corner of Farmington Avenue and North Main Street. Parking is free all day at all municipal parking sites. Beginning at 12 a.m. on Monday, on-street parking is prohibited along the parade route.
New Haven — The city of New Haven will be honoring Memorial Day on Sunday, May 29 with three separate observances scheduled in different parts of the city. The first ceremony will be a wreath-laying ceremony held at 1:00 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park on Long Wharf Drive. Another wreath-laying ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the World War Memorial Flagpole on the New Haven Green. Decorated Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Sorrentino (Ret.) of the Connecticut Air National Guard will be the featured speaker at the two wreath-laying ceremonies. At 5:00 p.m., there will be a free patriotic concert at the John Lyman Center or the Performing Arts, at the Southern Connecticut State University campus.
New Britain — The New Britain Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m. The parade will start at Burritt and Broad Streets and will begin marching East on Broad Street. The parade will conclude at Franklin Square in front of the New Britain Courthouse. Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty will be marching in the parade along with several school marching bands, local veterans, New Britain Police, fire and EMS departments and more.
Wethersfield — The annual Wethersfield Memorial Day Parade will be held on Saturday, May 28. It will kick off at 9:00 a.m. and will head West on State Street to Nott Street then onto Garden Street. It will then proceed down Garden Street, left onto Church Street and then right onto Main Street. The parade will continue on Main Street, then take a left back onto Garden Street to Broad Street. It will then proceed north on Broad Street and cross Marsh Street to the Village Cemetery for Memorial Day services. Parking will be available throughout the parade route.
Danbury — The town of Danbury will be holding their Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30. Beginning at 6:30 a.m. will be a Memorial Service at Saint Joseph Church followed by the Placing of Wreaths ceremony. At 9:30 a.m. the Danbury parade will start at Kennedy Park and will wrap up at Rogers Park.
