A young male is in the hospital after he fell 50 feet off a cliff while hiking in Vernon.
According to police, they got a call to the Hop River bike trail for the report of an injured person. Officers found the victim near Valley Falls Park.
Police said the juvenile was walking along the cliffs when he decided to climb down by himself. His friends lost sight of him and called 911.
A nurse was jogging in the area and witnessed the victim fall. She cared for him until Vernon Fire Rescue arrived on an ATV.
Vernon Fire Rescue brought him to fire station 24 on Birch Street.
He was brought to Hartford Hospital. His injuries and current condition are unknown at this point.
