WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut State Police are investigating an accident that has left a pedestrian dead along Route 8 in Waterbury.

Police said they were called to the Exit 33 off ramp from Route 8 southbound shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Melvin Gordis, 27, of Bridgeport, was found dead at the scene.

According to officers, a vehicle taking the ramp which goes from Route 8 to I-84 westbound, struck Gordis.

He was then struck by a second vehicle traveling on the ramp.

Melvin Gordis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped following the crash.

The ramp was closed for several hours as police investigated the accident.
