NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

Drivers were being asked to avoid New Haven Road in Naugatuck after a police cruiser was involved in a multi-car crash on Sunday.

New Haven Road, also known as Route 63, was closed in the area of Beacon Valley Road and Candee Road. It has since reopened.

Several people involved in the crash, including a Naugatuck police officer, have been transported to area hospitals, however none of the occupants suffered life threatening injuries.

Police said the crash involved a car that had been traveling west on Candee Road, and struck several other cars, including a police cruiser, that were stopped at a traffic light on New Haven Road.
