PLAINVILLE, CT (WFSB) -

A Plainville woman said she feels violated after someone mysteriously showed up at her house and stole her furniture.

“This our porch. This is our house. We live on a really quiet street in a quiet neighborhood,” said Laura Stilwell, who was able to capture the theft on camera.

She said the furniture wasn’t even worth that much, but she’s hoping to put everyone on alert in the hopes of tracking down the suspect.

“It’s an invasion of our privacy. That’s what makes me most upset. It’s not really the material things or value of it.”

She said the theft happened after her fiancée had left their Williams Street home.

“I think they had to have been watching us somehow or watching the house because his car was still here. He had just walked away,” Stilwell said.

Moments later, she said a camera hiding near her front door captured the thief red-handed, stealing her front porch furniture.

“The video picks up as they’re holding both tables and walking right down off of our porch,” she said.

She initially thought it was a joke by one of her friends.

“We waited a couple of days hoping it was one of our friends before we filed a police report thinking someone was messing with us or took our stuff to be funny, but it turned out it wasn’t,” Stilwell said.

When she asked other neighbors if they too had furniture missing, she said “they had said that some of their flowers were missing so I don’t know if someone is trying to decorate their front porch with all of our belongings.”

She said she is now keeping a watchful eye out for who walks and drives down her street.

“I kind of have to live in fear that someone will steal my stuff again. Do I really have to chain it to the porch so that they won’t take it away? I think that’s ridiculous,” she said.

Anyone who may recognize the person in the video should contact Plainville police.
