Nearly 24 hours later, the scene of a Winsted home invasion was cleared Thursday night.
Two people were taken to the hospital last night after several people broke into a home.
Although police said there is no threat of harm to the public, neighbors are still shaken by the incident.
Channel 3's Jason Frazer spoke with multiple residents who are shocked the crime occurred in an area they describe as quiet and safe.
Neighbor Lauren Brako lives directly across from where the break in occurred.
"I'm a little nervous because it's right across the street," said Brako.
Two people were assaulted during the invasion. One was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Shortly after the incident, Elias Estremera, 45, of Torrington, was arrested and charged with burglary, robbery and assault.
The news of the arrest is a relief to neighbor Cory Medlar.
"It's good to know they got ahold of one of the guys. If there was more than one that's a little nerve racking," said Medlar.
The other suspects have not yet been arrested. Police would not comment on how many people they are looking for.
"I just hope they catch them and stop this from happening again," said Brako.
Police at one point removed evidence from the home but would not specify what they removed.
