Meriden father and son involved in fatal motorcycle crash

EAST HADDAM, CT (WFSB) -

A father and son were involved in a deadly motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon. 

According to state police, 22-year-old Stephen Palermo of Meriden died when he lost control of his motorcycle while riding through Devil's Hopyard State Forrest in East Haddam Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers said he struck a large object on the right shoulder of the road.

Palermo's father, Jorge Palermo,47,  was also seriously injured when he too lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. He also struck an object.

Jorge Palermo was transported to Hartford Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

Both men where riding in an area with a series of curves in the road. 

State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
