FARMINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Police said three people were shot outside of a bar in Farmington early Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred outside The Tavern at the Exchange (formerly Murphy & Scarletti's) on Farmington Avenue around 2 a.m.

"People were exiting the bars, milling about the parking lot, you know when gun shots erupt people start to move in different directions or panic. They are not sure what to do," said Farmington Police Lt. Patrick Buckley.

West Hartford police and UConn Health Center police assisted at the scene.

The victims, identified as two men and a woman, were transported to Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Their identities have not been released.

Police said they are working to identify the shooter.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Officials said this kind of violence is unusual.

"It's generally a quiet place, sure. Just the typical type of business that we get. This is very atypical for Farmington especially," Buckley said.

Police said they are looking at some surveillance video to help with the investigation.
