A search for a missing boater in Bridgeport was suspended on Monday evening after crews had been searching all day.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, two people went missing off of Seaside Park Point Sunday. One person was rescued, but crews said they were still searching for another as of Monday afternoon.
Officials said two men, who were not wearing life jackets, were boating in the area on Sunday night when their oars snapped.
One of the men jumped into the water to retrieve it, but he hasn't been seen since.
Earlier on Monday, Coast Guard crews searched for four other missing boaters who had launched kayaks and a paddle board near Hammonasset State Beach.
Two victims, a woman and girl, were rescued on Monday morning but the other two missing boaters have died.
One of them is a 31-year-old man whose body was found in Southold, N.Y. The Coast Guard recovered another body on Monday afternoon, believed to be the second missing person, who is a 44-year-old man from Manchester.
