OLD SAYBROOK, CT (WFSB) -

A railroad bridge fire sparked some service problems for Amtrak riders on Tuesday morning.

It happened between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme. The bridge spans the Connecticut River.

As of 6:30 a.m., Amtrak said at least one train was getting by over the bridge.

The line between New Haven and Boston had been briefly closed in the area.

"This one appears to be welders working overnight," said Chief Tom Rison, Old Lyme Fire Department. "The sparks got up into the grass and set that off, they're accidental."

Fire crews have since cleared the scene. Amtrak officials, however, are still there.

A cause for the fire has not been released.
