WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A man police said murdered a young mother last month is scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday.

Camal Barnes, 32, shot 22-year-old Ebony Swaby multiple times in front of the couple's 2-month-old child, according to investigators.

Police called Barnes Swaby's "live-in boyfriend."

They said they were called to the couple's apartment on Clifton Avenue May 7.

Investigators said there was some kind of argument that culminated with the shooting. They have not released information about what sparked the argument.

Barnes dialed 911 and told dispatchers that Swaby came at him with a knife and that's why he was forced to shoot.

After his first court appearance on May 9, Barnes was ordered held on a $3 million bond.
