Suffield police seek food store burglar

SUFFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Suffield said they're seeking a food store burglar who struck just before midnight on Tuesday.

They said they responded to the Sam's Food Store on Babbs Road at 11:55 p.m.

Officers said they found the glass front door of the store smashed. Surveillance footage showed that the suspect used a hammer.

Once inside, the man took a cash register drawer, money and cigarettes.

He then left the store and got into a vehicle that was parked at the north entrance of the plaza.

He drove away northbound on Babbs Road.

Police described the suspect as a man standing 5'9" all who wore jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a black beanie-style hat.

They said they're looking for help from anyone who may have seen a vehicle parked in the area just before midnight. Anyone with information can call police at 860-668-3870.
