A week of closures on Interstate-84 in Waterbury began Tuesday night.
The Department of Transportation said the closures at exit 23 over the Hamilton Avenue bridge affects both directions from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The nighttime shutdowns run through June 22.
The DOT said it is erecting steel on the bridge as part of its I-84 Waterbury Project.
Detours will be in place on the east and westbound sides from June 14 through June 19. An eastbound detour will be in place from June 20 through June 22.
The DOT said westbound traffic can take exit 23, turn right onto Hamilton Avenue, continue onto Hamilton Avenue/Union Street and turn left back onto I-84 at exit 22.
Eastbound travelers can take exit 23, bear left toward Prospect on Route 69 south. At the end of the exit, go straight across Hamilton Avenue and reenter I-84 by the exit 24 on ramp.
