HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Earlier this week, Eyewitness News investigated animal abuse allegations at a home in Hartford where a fight prompted our crew to call 911.

On Tuesday, Eyewitness News went to the apartment on Colonial Street after hearing that two pit bulls were potentially being abused.

But a fight broke between the dog’s owner Carla Jeffries and the accuser, Vyctorya Cyr.

It was a situation that escalated quickly between the accuser and the woman accused of animal abuse, and on Thursday Jeffries appeared in court for breach of peace and threatening charges.

Police won’t be charging Jeffries with cruelty to animals. They determined the wound on one of the dogs was from the other dog, and not Jeffries.

“They're pit bulls. They lock on each other. I take very good care of my dogs,” Jeffries said.

Hartford Animal Control said it appears Jeffries does not want her dog back. If that’s the case, he will be given up for adoption.

Cyr said she had to go to the emergency room after the incident and has a sprained wrist.
