A man and woman are accused of stealing from a store at the Danbury Fair Mall and attacking the security officer who confronted them.
Police said 26-year-old Douglas Rollman of Mahopac, NY and 21-year-old Gina Pecchia of Wingdale, NY were seen shoplifting at Macy's through security cameras.
They said a security officer confronted them and reported that the pair appeared nervous.
When the officer tried to handcuff Rollman, a fight ensued that involved the officer, Rollman and Pecchia.
During the fight, police said Pecchia tried to strangle the officer. Rollman kicked the officer in the stomach.
Both suspects fled but were found by additional officers in the mall's parking garage. Douglas had handcuffs on his wrist.
Officers said they recovered a pair of $46.99 jeans.
Rollman was charged with breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy of sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, conspiracy of sixth-degree robbery and third-degree assault.
He was held on a $25,000 bond.
Pecchia was charged with breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy of sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, conspiracy of sixth-degree robbery, third-degree assault and third-degree strangulation.
She also was held on a $25,000 bond.
