Poor water quality closed a popular swimming hole in Middlefield again this season.
Wadsworth Falls State Park's beach was off limits to swimmers on Tuesday, according the the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
DEEP said water samples were analyzed and found an elevated level of bacteria.
Environmental officials said swimming areas of all state parks are tested weekly. The samples are analyzed by local health departments.
DEEP said "indicator bacteria" are not disease-causing pathogens. However, they are one of the tools used by public health and environmental protection authorities to evaluate the potential for contamination of water bodies.
