NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

Construction workers were hurt at a construction site along Route 8 in Naugatuck early Wednesday morning.

State Department of Transportation spokesperson Kevin Nursick told Eyewitness News that three Mohawk Northeast employees were injured while performing work on Route 8 north by exit 28.

One was seriously hurt. The other two received minor injuries.

Nursick said Mohawk had the right lane closed for bridge work when a tractor trailer in the left lane hit a lift that had one of the employees in it. The other two employees were working in the roadway.

The truck never stopped, according to Nursick.

State police said they closed the highway overnight to investigate. They are still looking for the truck diver.

All three employees were transported to Waterbury Hospital.
