A woman was arrested for having heroin after police said they stopped her for texting while driving.
They said Daleth Dube, 27, of Wallingford, was seen driving north on Old Colony Road Thursday night.
Around 9 p.m. police said had her cell phone positioned in her hands in front of her steering wheel.
They said she appeared to be using the touch screen on it.
As a result, police said her left tires crossed the double yellow line.
An officer stopped her just south of the Meriden city line.
Dube admitted that she had been texting, according to police.
When she presented her license, police discovered that it was suspended.
When police investigated further, they said they found an opened wax baggie with a blue stamp printed on it.
A search of the vehicle revealed 29 similar opened baggies and 3 unopened baggies full of a brownish powdery substance. The substance later tested positive for heroin, police said.
A syringe was also found in her wallet.
Police said she failed a sobriety test and refused a urine test.
She was held on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of July 8.
